Riveting Part 1 - Simple Wire Rivets
16 Lessons -
Soldering is great fun and opens up a whole new world in jewellery making, but sometimes it's just as great to use materials that don't stand the heat! That's where rivets come in - a cold connection technique that holds layers of a jewellery design together without the need for a blowtorch.
This is the first class in a series that will teach you all you need about riveting. We'll start with simple wire rivets that I will use to hold pretty silver flowers firmly in place on smooth wooden beads - however you could use them to layer copper onto brightly coloured acrylic, patterned pieces cut from a recycled biscuit tin onto silver or leather and metal. The only limit is your imagination and riveting is a great way of using upcycled materials!
All of the Riveting classes can be found together in the Riveting course bundle.
51 mins long, 11 lessons
Materials needed: the class project uses small pieces of silver sheet, 0.8mm sterling silver wire, 2 flat wooden beads.
