Silver Stacking Rings 2

Dress up your stacking rings with beautiful embellishments!

About the Class

Once you’ve mastered the basics of making stacking rings in Silver Stacking Rings 1, this class will show you how to add beautiful textures and decorative details to create rings that can be mixed, matched, and layered into endless combinations.

Stacking rings are one of my favourite jewellery projects because they are so versatile, and small changes in texture or decoration can completely change the look of the finished piece.

In this class, you’ll learn how to saw shapes from silver sheet, use a disc cutter and doming block, add texture using different techniques, and melt tiny pieces of silver into decorative balls — one of the most satisfying jewellery making skills to learn! You’ll also build on your soldering skills, as attaching decorations to the rings requires a little more careful setup and heat control.

As always, I’ll guide you through the techniques step by step, helping you understand not just what to do, but why the process works.  The equipment and materials needed for the project are explained throughout the videos and included in downloadable notes.

Extra class documents also help you calculate ring sizes and wire lengths, and include troubleshooting tips covered during the class.

This class is part of the Jeweller's Bench Membership - click here for more details.

If you need any extra help as you work your way through the classes do join us over on The Jeweller's Bench Café group over on Facebook - the perfect place to ask for advice and to show off what you've been making.

You will need:

Materials:
The rings can be made by round, square, half-round, oval or rectangular wire between 1.2mm and 2mm long. For the decorations you will need some small pieces of silver sheet - it's amazing what you can make from scrap pieces!

The Jeweller's Bench is run by Joanne Tinley. She has been making her own jewellery for as long as she can remember and left her first career as a school teacher to set up business as a jewellery designer and tutor nearly 20 years ago. She is
self-taught and like many people started with wire and beads. Learning how to solder, however, opened up a whole new world of jewellery making,  one that she is keen to share!
