Replacing the belt on a tumble polisher

look after the tools that make your silver shiny!

About the Tutorial

My tumble polisher is a vital piece of equipment in my studio - especially at the end of a workshop when everyone wants to get their new jewellery as shiny as possible!

The model I have is a lovely efficient one, but it does need a little maintenance every now and then. The part that most commonly needs replacing is the drive belt that connects the motor to the wheels that the barrel sits on top of. Over time it wears thin and can eventually snap. Thankfully the spare parts are easy to source and the belt is quick and easy to replace when you know how - and once you've watched this quick video you will know how!

Replacement belts can be bought as part of a spares kit through many Ebay and Amazon sellers (search for jewellery rotary tumbler polisher replacement set).

If you're in the UK then B&Q also sell a set of plumbering seals, a couple of which are just the right size for this job. Find them at this link.

This video class is just one in a collection of free tutorials. You can enrol on each one individually or enrol on the whole bundle so that you don't miss out on new classes!

Joanne Tinley

Tutor and Founder of The Jeweller's Bench

The Jeweller's Bench is run by Joanne Tinley. She has been making her own jewellery for as long as she can remember and left her first career as a school teacher to set up business as a  jewellery designer and tutor nearly 20 years ago. She is
self-taught and like many people started with wire and beads. Learning how to solder, however, opened up a whole new world of jewellery making,  one that she is keen to share!
