Barcelona Ring - create a pearl ring

Add a rolling mill texture and a half-drilled pearl to a simple hammered ring

About the Class

Once you've learnt how to make simple hammered rings, add to your skills and learn how to dress them up with beautiful textures and pearls!

The Barcelona Ring class is a great introduction to working with half-drilled pearls. These come in a beautiful range of colours and sizes, but do require different setting techniques than cabochon or faceted stones. The class also covers some rolling mill techniques as the oval underneath the pearl has been textured with one of my own range of texture sheets (see the "you will need" section) However, the oval doesn't have to be oval, the texture doesn't have to be with a rolling mill and the pearl doesn't have to be peacock grey! I'd really love to see what variations you can come up with.

The class includes a downloadable list of all the equipment that you will need, plus a guide to the materials needed too.

This class assumes that you already have a good understanding of all the techniques covered in the Simple Hammered Rings class, and both classes can be found in the Rings course bundle. The Barcelona class can also be found in the Intermediate Silversmithing course bundle.

If you need any extra help as you work your way through the classes do join us over on The Jeweller's Bench Café group over on Facebook - the perfect place to ask for advice and to show off what you've been making.

Joanne Tinley

Tutor and Founder of The Jeweller's Bench

The Jeweller's Bench is run by Joanne Tinley. She has been making her own jewellery for as long as she can remember and left her first career as a school teacher to set up business as a  jewellery designer and tutor nearly 20 years ago. She is
self-taught and like many people started with wire and beads. Learning how to solder, however, opened up a whole new world of jewellery making,  one that she is keen to share!
