About the Tutorial
You've spent time making a beautiful necklace or bracelet, so it deserves a clasp that feels just as carefully considered as the rest of the piece.
A simple handmade clasp is quick to make, easy to adapt and much more satisfying than reaching for a shop-bought finding.
In this back-to-basics tutorial, I'll show you how to shape and finish a simple clasp that you can use for all sorts of jewellery projects. This video is taken from the Bird on a Branch Hollow Form Necklace class - coming soon!

You will need:
Materials:
Sterling silver round wire to match the scale of your project. I used 1.2mm wire in the tutorial.
Sterling silver jump ring for the other end of your project, for the clasp to fix on to. I used a 3mm jump ring in the tutorial.
I recommend practicing in copper before moving on to silver.
Equipment: (all the jewellery making kit listed here can be used for many different projects)

Bench block and leather cushion (or folded tea towel!)

The Jeweller's Bench is run by Joanne Tinley. She has been making her own jewellery for as long as she can remember and left her first career as a school teacher to set up business as a jewellery designer and tutor nearly 20 years ago. She is
