Embossed Leaf Necklace

Learn how to use paper to decorate your silver!

About the Class

The Embossed Leaf Pendant class is a wonderful beginner project for building confidence with sawing, soldering, texturing, and shaping silver, while also introducing you to the magic of creating texture with a rolling mill and, of all things, watercolour paper!

In this class, you’ll learn how to emboss detailed textures into silver sheet before sawing out elegant leaf shapes to create a lightweight and beautifully textured pendant. The project is especially good for improving your sawing skills, as the shapes are simple enough for beginners while still giving you plenty of opportunity to practise accuracy and control.

The leaf design begins with a simple craft paper punch, making it very easy to adapt the project into different shapes and styles of jewellery. Any craft punch with a shape you love will work beautifully, or you can create your own design using a craft knife if you’d like something more personal.

The class also covers two different ways of attaching a chain to your pendant, helping you choose the finish and style that best suits your design.

Joanne Tinley

Tutor and Founder of The Jeweller's Bench

The Jeweller's Bench is run by Joanne Tinley. She has been making her own jewellery for as long as she can remember and left her first career as a school teacher to set up business as a  jewellery designer and tutor nearly 20 years ago. She is
self-taught and like many people started with wire and beads. Learning how to solder, however, opened up a whole new world of jewellery making,  one that she is keen to share!
