Learn the basics of silver jewellery making through 13 beautiful but quick projects - one season of the 52 Earrings project

About the Class

The 52 Earrings series began as a challenge to myself: to create a new pair of earrings for every week of the year, with each project teaching either a new jewellery making skill or a different way of using a tool or piece of equipment.

The result is a collection of 42 video classes covering 52 earring designs and a wonderfully varied introduction to silver jewellery making. Across the series, you’ll build confidence with a wide range of techniques including soldering, sawing, filing, texturing, forging, and stone setting, all through quick, approachable projects designed to help you practise and grow your skills step by step.

Some classes include two different earring designs, exploring alternative techniques or variations such as stud and drop earring versions. Each season contains 13 earring designs, giving you plenty of opportunity to experiment with new ideas while creating jewellery that is wearable, varied, and fun to make.

The projects are designed to be achievable and enjoyable, making the series a wonderful way to steadily build confidence and experience at the bench one small project at a time.

Joanne Tinley

Tutor and Founder of The Jeweller's Bench

The Jeweller's Bench is run by Joanne Tinley. She has been making her own jewellery for as long as she can remember and left her first career as a school teacher to set up business as a jewellery designer and tutor nearly 20 years ago. She is
self-taught and like many people started with wire and beads. Learning how to solder, however, opened up a whole new world of jewellery making,  one that she is keen to share!
